In the past physical obstacles such as walls or moats (Graben, fosse) were able to interrupt communication between men. Lack of communication could have been a reason for war.





Today and even more in the future physical circumstances such as distance are no longer relevant. Tele-Communication cannot be stopped by walls so you can be inside a fort but present all over the world.
