What are the plug-ins like?

We built a scale model to compare several possibilities. These two plug-ins are comparable to a drawer that carries its own façade. The insertion can also fit exactly into the vaults so it can be placed completely inside the building. On the other hand the inner part could be mounted onto a façade that stands in front of the old building.

If the façade is placed in front of the building we do not consider the vaults in contrast to the fit-in method.
The insertions, that are similar to furniture do not depend on the vaults. The bathroom is inside the cube; the partition walls define the entry situation. The bathroom separates the different functional zones from eachother.
The façade acts both as a pergola and a balcony. It is a buffer zone between the public and private rooms. It seems like this element could be pulled out as one single piece and then be used somewhere else.
The drawer principle requires a bridge to access the upper units. So the lower level is not disturbed by people leaving or entering; the access can be entirely independent. The two levels can not be connected easily. They can carry different functions.
The upper-level units can be accessed via a bridge or by walking along the pergola. Stairs could help to connect the two levels.
